SINGLE SITE ® SURGERY

THE ENABLING TECHNOLOGY: DA VINCI ® SURGICAL SYSTEM WITH SINGLE-SITE ® TECHNOLOGY

About the da Vinci Xi

The da Vinci Xi Surgical System is the latest in Robotic Technology, designed to provide surgeons with enhanced capabilities, including high definition 3D vision and a magnified view for greater precision. A doctor controls the da Vinci System, which translates his or her hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny instruments inside the patient’s body. Though it is often called a “robot,” da Vinci cannot act on its own. Surgery is performed entirely by experienced surgeons as an extension to his existing expertise and capability.

SO, WHAT IS DA VINCI SINGLE-SITE ® SURGERY?

The da Vinci System and Single-Site® instruments allow our surgeons to perform a potential surgery through a single incision in the belly button.

As a result, a patient may be able to get back to life without the usual recovery following major surgery.

At AIMIS, our specially trained physicians perform many Single-Site® surgeries every year, including Gallbladder disorders and subsequent removal (cholecystectomies), some pancreatic procedures (including distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy) and various gynaecological disorders (including benign ovarian procedures and hysterectomies).

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Single-Site ® surgery is the latest innovation in minimally invasive surgery and appears to be a preferred choice, highly feasible and safe to perform for a variety of conditions. This approach may result in a “scarless” effect, because the incision remains concealed at the base of the navel when healed.

Da Vinci Single-Site® Surgery in its relatively few years in practice for urological, general surgery and gynaecological procedures has shown a variety of benefits including less trauma, aesthetic superiority and improved pain profile.
